Nilakantha Diksita (Tamil Nadu, XVII secolo) fu un prolifico autore di circa 18 opere in sanscrito su vari argomenti. Le tre raccolte di strofe gnomiche subhasita («ben parlate») qui presentate spaziano da una valutazione umoristica seppur caustica dei mali del mondo a un intimo desiderio di uno stato di pace benedetto al di là dei tumulti della vita.

Nilakantha Diksita (Tamil Nadu, 17th Century) was a prolific author of some 18 works in Sanskrit on various subjects. The three collections of subhasita («wellspoken ») gnomic stanzas presented here range from a humorous albeit caustic appraisal of the ills of the world to an intimate yearning for a blessed state of peace beyond the turmoils of life.
